This charming boutique hotel near Port Miami was the perfect start to our cruise! We were a little nervous after reading some negative reviews, especially since we were arriving late, but we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is stylish, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the location is super convenient to the port and other attractions. Our room was spacious and the linens were spotless. Bonus: they offer affordable parking, even for while you're on your cruise! Ignore the naysayers – this place is a gem. Highly recommend for a pre-cruise stay!

Beautiful boutique hotel not far from South Beach. It offers really unique music themed room and lobby decor and real old times feel about it. No computer at the ftont desk. Everything is done in a good old paper registry.

What an absolute gem of a hotel. The lobby has some fantastic art. The room was immaculate. I had a double queen room for my daughter and I, we both agreed that the mattresses were some of the most comfortable we’ve ever stayed in. There’s a small public park next door that had roosters strutting around, awesome. This is an owner/operator hotel, and you can feel the difference. They care about this place. Every staff member was warm and inviting. 15 minute walk to Kaseya Center, 15 minute drive to South Beach. There’s an on-site parking lot with designated spots for the hotel. I don’t ever write reviews, but this place more than earned it.

My husband and I really enjoyed staying here! It has a lot of historical charm with deep ties to Black Miami and the Miami art scene. Our room was really nice, with a lot of character. I really liked the way that the rooms are themed to different Black artists, many of whom had a presence in the Miami art scene. It's also within walking distance of the Brightline/local rail station, making it ideal for seeing much of downtown Miami. It's also very close to several great eateries, like the Red Rooster, Lil GreenHouse Grill, and our favorite, Jackson Soul Food. Also, the staff was very kind. We happened to visit the weekend of the Melton Mustafa Jazz Festival, and we were able to attend the festival mixer in the hotel lobby, where we heard some excellent music and able to mingle with several jazz musicians. We had such a good time that we hope to come back next year. If you're going to Miami via Brightline, we can't recommend it enough!

Unique, eclectic hotel with incredible staff. A boutique hotels so if you are looking for a pool and a restaurant don’t go. But if you want to spend the night in a museum, surrounded by history where some of the greatest African American artist slept. This is the place that will transport you back to Miami’s Harlem. Private parking, continental breakfast and stories, lots and lots of stories. We had the Dorothy Dandridge room. Fun place we hope to return to. Met other like minded guests and were treated like royalty by the staff. We went to a world baseball game and had a meal at Versailles all within a few minutes drive.

I just finished staying at this hotel. It’s a boutique hotel, placed right in the middle of downtown Miami. Love the theme, the staff helped me with my bag at the hotel, and my room bed was soooo soft and comfy! In town for a wedding and it was the perfect stay.

What a great place! The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Location was great for me. Close enough to downtown to walk where I needed to go. Free self park! You can’t go wrong. If you like places with character instead of the cookie cutter stamped out rooms I highly recommend Dunns Josephine.

Is this a 4 star hotel? No but nicely remodeled clean rooms. No issues with the room or service. Everyone was friendly and offered great advice. Location feels a step below but very close to downtown Miami. Some homeless but so does every big city. Plenty of police presence. There were people jogging and walking dogs alone. As a woman I wouldn't walk alone at night but felt just fine with my husband. During the day it was fine felt safe. 20-30 minute walk to water. 15 minutes to food and the metro station. Good place for a decent price. If you have issues with stairs this is an old building no elevator ask for a main floor room
